SMS Driving School - Theory Test
The theory test consists of 2 parts, both of which must be passed at the same time.
Each question will have several answer options appearing on the screen and you have to select the correct answer by touching the screen. Read the question carefully as some questions require more than one answer.
Some questions will be given a case study. The case study will show a scenario that five questions will be based on. The subject of the scenario focuses on real life examples and experiences that drivers could come across when driving.
If you come across a question you are unsure about, don't worry about it, you can 'flag it' and come back to it later in the test. You are allowed 57 minutes to answer 50 questions. Pass Mark 43
The Hazard Perception Test
The test consists of a series of 14 video clips and in each clip there will be at least one hazard. One of the clips will feature two hazards. To achieve a high score you need to respond to the hazard as you see it happening on screen.
The maximum score you can achieve on each hazard is five. Unlike the multiple choice part of the Theory Test, you cannot review your answers (this is because you would only have one chance on the road to spot a hazard).
To pass the Hazard Perception section of the Theory Test you need to score a minimum of 44 out of 75.
